Conclusions phase 1.1

Teak imported from Myanmar is always
official legal, because it is verified by the Myanmar Timber Enterprise (MTE) and the customs.

Demonstrable legality for Myanmar teak is theoretical possible. Phase 1.2 of the project has to be made cooperation with MTE and suppliers.

Track and trace is possible. MTE and the private suppliers have much paperwork where the tree can be traced back until a certain level. In phase 1.2 this will be an important point of interest.

Corporate social responsibilities: Private sawmills (suppliers) have a higher average ranking as average on corporate social responsibilities in Myanmar. In phase 1.2 suppliers will be audited and a part of the audit is taking care of the social circumstances and the OESO-guidelines.
